July 26, 2010 - Formosa, ON – The Formosa Community Centre will soon be getting a face-lift, thanks to a $45,800 Ontario Trillium Foundation Grant announced today by Carol Mitchell, MPP Huron-Bruce.
MPP Mitchell was joined by local OTF volunteer Ron Oswald and representatives from the Municipality of South Bruce as the news was shared with the local community.
“These renovations to the Formosa Community Centre will make this important local facility fully accessible and more energy efficient,” said Carol Mitchell, MPP for Huron-Bruce. “Local families and the community as a whole will benefit from this project, which is an example of our government’s ongoing commitment to build and sustain the economies of rural Ontario.”

The facility will be the hub of the activities during the Homecoming celebration in 2011. The current project will provides exterior upgrades, such as pointing, painting and siding as well as new energy efficient lighting and ceiling tiles in the facility which will extend the life of the building for many years.
“The award of this Ontario Trillium Foundation grant for the Community Hall in Formosa is greatly appreciated. This will help to finance improvements at the facility which would not be possible without this funding. The Formosa Lions Club and volunteers in the community should be thanked and congratulated for the effort they put toward the operation and success of this facility,” said Bill Goetz, Mayor of the Municipality of South Bruce. “I would also like to thank the Ontario Trillium Foundation and the Provincial Government for the continued investment in our community facilities such as the Formosa Hall that is necessary to maintain the recreational and cultural services and options available to our residents.”
