Goderich ServiceOntario centre to offer integrated services
February 1, 2010 - Goderich, ON - Huron-Bruce residents will now have full-time access to one-stop shopping for routine health card and driver and vehicle services at the ServiceOntario centre in Goderich. The expansion of the Goderich centre is another step in ServiceOntario’s plan to improve its network so that 95 per cent of Ontarians will be within 10 kilometres of a fully-integrated ServiceOntario centre.
As of January 29, 2010, driver and vehicle services in the Town of Goderich have moved from 19 Victoria Street North to the ServiceOntario centre at 38 North Street.
This ServiceOntario centre will now provide full-time access to a variety of government services, including birth and marriage certificates, health cards, driver’s licence renewals, vehicle permit transactions and hunting and fishing licences. The office is open Monday through Friday, from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Goderich and area residents were previously served by a health card outreach program three days per month.
“The expansion of the Goderich ServiceOntario centre will bring more government services closer to home for Huron-Bruce families, in turn saving them time and money,” said Carol Mitchell, MPP for Huron-Bruce. “Our government is making it easier for Ontarians to access government information and services. By the end of the year, access to health card services in rural communities throughout the province will expand from two locations to 163 ServiceOntario centres.”
Last July Harinder Takhar, Minister of Government Services, announced an integration initiative and expansion of ServiceOntario centres province-wide to make access to government services faster, friendly and easier. Prior to this initiative, only two ServiceOntario centres in the province offered most driver and vehicle services and routine health card services.
