Children of Formosa Get an
Early Christmas Present Thanks to OTF Grant -
Dec. 18, 2007
Formosa – On Tuesday , MPP for Huron-Bruce, Carol Mitchell,
joined the Formosa and District Lions Club to celebrate some good news.
Thanks to a $32,200 grant from the Ontario Trillium Foundation, the
Lions club will be able to replace the playground equipment at the
Formosa Lions/Lioness Park. Joining MPP Mitchell to present the group
with a plaque was OTF representative, TBC.
Carol Mitchell said that young people like to be
active and this will be a great spot for the youth of Formosa to come
and play. Safety is a very important consideration for children and this
grant will help resolve this concern. In 1989, the
club built a horseshoe park and pavilion at the Formosa Lions/Lioness
Park site. With the help of this years grant from OTF, they will be able
to replace the playground equipment with accessible, safe play
structures that encourage children of all abilities to become physically
active. Hundreds of resident and visiting children will use the new
playground equipment in conjunction with other activities taking place
at the park for increased physical activity and enhanced social
interaction. The Formosa Lions and Lioness Clubs are
very excited about partnering with the Trillium Foundation to deliver
this new equipment. Both clubs have worked hard over the years to
develop this park for the community and this grant comes just in time to
help us keep the play structures accessible, up-to-date, safe and, most
of all, fun! We are grateful to the Ontario Trillium Foundation for
choosing us to benefit from this outstanding opportunity!
The Formosa and District Lions Club works to create and foster a spirit
of understanding among all people for humanitarian needs by providing
voluntary services through community involvement and international
cooperation. Through partnerships with local groups and businesses they
complete several fundraising events each year to support many local
causes relating to children, youth and specific health conditions. For

The Ontario Trillium Foundation is an agency of the Government of
Ontario. For 25 years, the Foundation has supported the growth and
vitality of communities across the province. OTF continues to strengthen
