Festivals And Events Help Build A Strong And Prosperous
Economy PORT ELGIN – The Port Elgin Pumpkinfest
will receive $14,992 in funding to help market the annual festival
announced Huron-Bruce MPP Carol Mitchell.
“The Ontario government is a proud supporter of festivals, events and
attractions that boost tourism in all four seasons,” said MPP Mitchell.
“Supporting such events gives a substantial economic boost to our area,
and a memorable experience for our visitors.”
The Tourism Event Marketing Partnership Program (TEMPP) funding will be
used to help offset the media costs associated with the marketing of the
event in many of the local print and radio broadcast outlets.
“The Pumpkinfest is important for Saugeen Shores and the surrounding
area” said Mitchell. “I want to congratulate everyone who helped
organize this event and the volunteers who have worked to make it such a
great success.”
“A healthy tourism industry supports Ontario’s high quality of life,”
said Jim Bradley, Minister of Tourism. “Festivals and events increase
tourism, bringing new visitors to communities across Ontario,
contributing to a strong and prosperous economy.”
The 21st annual Port Elgin Pumpkinfest is taking place on October 6 to
7, 2007. This event has won multiple Festival and Events Ontario Awards
and remains one of Ontario’s Top 50 Events. This year’s festival theme
is “Family Fun Second to None”.
Pumpkinfest is among a growing number of Ontario events and festivals
sponsored under the Ontario Tourism Marketing Partnership Corporation's
Tourism Event Marketing Partnership Program. By assisting local
organizations to showcase their events to the people of Ontario and our
neighbours, TEMPP encourages increased tourism and strengthens Ontario's
tourism industry.
