McGuinty Government investment benefits Bruce County through Ontario Trillium Foundation (OTF) Grant - August 9, 2007

Grant aimed to attract tourists through ‘Grey-Bruce Your Way’ program.

Kincardine – The Bruce Community Futures Development Corporation celebrated some good news for local businesses on Thursday morning with the official announcement of some funding awarded in March. Thanks to a $65,000 grant from the Ontario Trillium Foundation (OTF), they are well on their way to getting a new regional tourism e-commerce site up and running to benefit both Grey and Bruce Counties. MPP for Huron-Bruce, Carol Mitchell, was joined by OTF representative, to be confirmed, to congratulate the group on their grant.

“This is wonderful news for the residents of Bruce and Grey counties,” said Mitchell. “Preserving the institutions that help define our communities and attract tourism is a very important part of building communities with an eye towards the future”.

The $65,000 grant was awarded in March to help support the implementation of Grey Bruce Your Way (www.greybruceyourway.com ), a new regional tourism e-commerce site. This tool will offer both ease of access to online tourism browsing, booking and payment, as well as personal assistance through an ‘in-bound’ tourism operator for those seeking personalized services. The overall project has been developed by the Bruce CFDC in partnership with FedNor/Industry Canada.

Bruce CFDC Chair Barb Fisher stated “Trillium funding now enables a focused marketing strategy to attract new visitors to the area through a retail web portal. Tourism is important to our economy and this initiative will contribute to expanding our tourism season benefiting businesses, workers and the community”.
