Industrial Properties further benefits community -
August 3, 2007
Government Honours Commitment To Existing Tenants
SOUTH HURON — More Huron Park industrial properties have been sold to
five existing tenants, Carol Mitchell, MPP for Huron-Bruce and
Parliament Assistant to the Minister of Public Infrastructure Renewal
David Caplan announced today.
“These sales are more great news for strengthening the community of
Huron Park and boosting small businesses that help the local economy
prosper,” said Mitchell. “With these sales and the sale of other
properties, the government is fulfilling its promise to enable
industrial tenants to buy property they currently lease from the
province at fair market value, while ensuring Ontario taxpayers get a
return on property that the province no longer needs.”
The following sales have closed recently:
-
Exi-Plast Custom Moulding Ltd. is a family owned
and operated business employing 15 to 20 local residents. Exi-Plast
manufactures custom and proprietary plastic blow moulded and
injection moulded products. The sale was completed in mid-May 2007.

assemblies, and currently employs approximately 140 people to

steel. The sale was completed in late March 2007.
-
Goderich Aircraft Inc. specializes in paint,
interior, maintenance and avionics on small and mid-size jets and
turboprop aircraft. The firm is based in Huron Park and employs
approximately 150 people. The purchase of the aerodrome and its
building will also enable Goderich Aircraft to have control over the
runways and expand operations. The sale was completed in mid-May
2007.
-
Saf-T-Cab is a manufacturer, distributor,
exporter, and importer of heavy machinery cabs, machinery covers,
and vehicle safety devices. It employs approximately 150 people in
their Canadian operation. The sale was completed in mid-April 2007.

the residential and industrial tenants in Huron Park. The sale was
completed in mid-May 2007.
During 2006, two additional properties in Huron Park
were sold to Dunline Rubber Products Company and Bluewater Recycling
Association. The seven companies who’ve purchased land in Huron Park are
keeping close to 550 jobs in the community. As well, Parkbridge
Lifestyle Communities purchased the residential portion of the park
comprising 360 homes on 117 acres.
“The County of Huron totally supports the sale of Huron Park properties
to the existing businesses,” said County of Huron Warden D. J. Shewfelt.
“We know that these industries represent the strength of Huron
manufacturing. By ownership, they go a long way to making Huron County
as well as Huron Park secure for expansion opportunities in the future.
Congratulations.”
“These sales represent real positive results in building a successful
and prosperous future for the families and businesses of Huron Park,”
said South Huron Mayor Ken Oke. “On behalf of the Municipality of South
Huron, I would like to recognize the companies that have purchased land
and established their businesses in Huron Park. Not only have they
provided a tremendous economic boost to our municipality, but their
confidence and commitment to this area is sure to help bring new
investment, new jobs, and a more prosperous future for our entire
municipality.
Huron Park, a former Royal Canadian Air Force Base north of London,
Ontario, includes a residential community that was sold in May 2006, and
a 635-acre industrial park with 26 businesses and an airport. The
government, through the Ontario Realty Corporation, is finalizing its
work with one other industrial tenant to provide them an opportunity to
purchase. Any remainder properties will be offered for sale on the open
market.
