Reuben R. Sallows Gallery to Receive Three Year Funding Installment
GODERICH — Huron-Bruce MPP Carol Mitchell was at the Goderich Public
Library on Monday June 11, to announce a $37,000 investment by the
McGuinty Government to the Reuben R. Sallows Gallery through an Ontario
Trillium Foundation Grant.
The grant, distributed over three years, is intended to assist the
gallery in future efforts to maintain its cultural programming and
increase support for volunteers, community partnerships and fundraising
efforts.
“This is wonderful news for the gallery and for the residents of the
community of Goderich” said Carol Mitchell, MPP Huron-Bruce. “Preserving
the cultural institutions that help define our communities is a very
important part of respecting the past while looking towards the future”.
Located in the mezzanine of the Goderich Public Library, the Reuben R.
Sallows Gallery opened in 2003 after an initial donation of over 200
photographic works from the Sallows Family and funding assistance from
the Ontario Trillium Foundation. The mandate of The Gallery is to
preserve, protect and conserve the artistic heritage within its
collection. It celebrates the rich artistic legacy of Reuben R. Sallows
and promotes the Canadian visual art that embodies his innovative talent
and spirit.
