Alberta cope with high construction demands -

Homes on 9 company Trade Mission to Edmonton to educate Alberta on
Ontario’s methods.
WINGHAM — Local business Royal Homes, located in
Wingham, was part of a nine company trade mission from Ontario that
traveled to Edmonton this week to explore opportunities to assist the
Alberta construction industry with the current over-demands on its
capacity and to help relieve some of the stress of construction
infrastructure and housing shortages.
“It’s a tremendous achievement for Royal Homes to be selected as one of
only nine companies in the Province to assist Alberta tackle their well
publicized growth issues” said Carol Mitchell, MPP Huron-Bruce. “Being
selected as part of Team Ontario is a testament to the hard work and
technological advancements Royal Homes has made to the Provinces
construction sector”.
The Ontario companies will meet with Alberta-based architects,
contractors and developers seeking additional capacity to meet local
construction requirements. The business mission is being organized
jointly by the Ontario government and the Edmonton Economic Development
Corporation.
“We were very happy to assist Alberta in their quest to manage capacity
and adequately handle the excess demand their construction sector is
facing” said Pieter Venema, President of Royal Homes. “To be able to
offer our expertise in the pre-fabrication of homes and commercial
structures was a very exciting and rewarding opportunity”.
This is a great opportunity for Ontario's innovative construction sector
companies to generate new business at home, while helping Alberta meet
its housing development needs," said Sandra Pupatello, Ontario’s
Minister of Economic Development and Trade. "Ontario companies will
undertake much of the design and fabrication work in Ontario and then
ship their products to Alberta for assembly and installation."
